Parks and Recreation Lighting Solutions
Providing illumination in parks and other recreational locations serves a dual purpose. It must be functional and aesthetically pleasing. Without this balance, the park will lack the appeal and comfort it represents. But many times it can be difficult to access power because of remote or sensitive locations. When connecting to conventional power sources becomes cost prohibitive because of extensive trenching and complex wiring, solar lighting is often the most cost effective way to illuminate these areas. SOL park and recreation lighting solutions provide reliable bright light to enhance the safety and security wherever you need it, while blending into the park’s natural setting. SOL lighting systems are easily installed, cost less to deploy than utility connected lighting and compliment surrounding aesthetics.

Parks and Recreation Lighting Case Study
In 2003, the U.S. National Park Service was looking to improve safety and security for their employee and visitor parking lot at Indiana Dunes National Park in Porter, Indiana. The staff/guest parking lot had no existing lights and trenching for conventional power was prohibitive and too expensive. Part of the overall long standing effort of NPS to use renewable energy was achieved through the installation of solar powered lighting systems by SOL.

We want to thank you for the fine cooperation we have received from Solar Outdoor Lighting for installation of lights in the Ocala National Forest. The first installation was placed at our entrance at Pittman Work Center and solved a safety hazard off a busy highway. The second establishment was a restroom at Big Bass campground which provided security and pleasantness for the campers on national forest land.
Both locations are served with adequate lighting and we believe that solar power lighting is a way-to-go in the future. Again, thanks for providing us excellent help, expertise and wonderful courtesy by your staff at Solar Outdoor Lighting. The cooperation the USDA Forest Service has received is greatly appreciated. ![]()
